This exciting holiday offers the best of an Austrian summer, all from the beautiful base of Zell am See. Experience some of the most naturally beautiful sites in the region, including majestic waterfalls, mighty glaciers and jaw-droppingly stunning alpine routes.

Your Holiday Itinerary

Day1Fly to Munich

Depart on a direct flight from Dublin to Munich where you will be met on arrival at the airport by our Resort Manager. You’ll board the transfer coach and be brought to your hotel, the lovely Lebzelter.
This cosy hotel is right in the centre of the idyllic mountain town of Zell am See. You have easy access to all that this stunningly beautiful resort has to offer and the hotel is just a short walk from the magestic Lake Zell. During your days at lesiure, why not relax in the hotel's bar or out on the terrace, based right in the pedestrianised area - perfect for people watching.

Day2Walking Tour of Zell am See

This morning you will be brought by your guide on a walking tour of the breathtakingly beautiful Zell Am See. Marrying its wonderful town atmosphere with stunning scenery among lake and mountains, Zell am See is a truly wonderful destination for experiencing what an Austrian summer is all about.

Day3Hohenwerfen Castle

We depart Zell am See this morning and drive along the scenic lake Zell, through the village of Schuettdorf, following the Salzach river downstream. Today’s excursion combines the beauty of natural architecture with the impressive man-made walls of a medieval masterpiece.
The 44km drive takes us through three picturesque parts of the province of Salzburg: the picturesque Unterpinzgau (Lower Pinzgau) Pongau and Tennengau. The sheer force and power of the waters of Großarler Ache (Großarler Creek) have long been shaping this 4km long, narrow gorge to the South of St.Johann im Pongau.

After this, we will continue on to the little village of Werfen where the Hohenwerfen dominates. High on the hilltop, the fortress can be reached by footpath with a 20 minute walk. For those who prefer to, you can take an elevator up to the top. Once you arrive, you can take in this mighty structure and the views that surround it before enjoying a lunch inside the castle. A guided tour through the impressive castle, after lunch, offers some interesting insights into the building's rich history and a falconry show will round off this day of fascinating cultural delights.

Day4At Your Leisure

Today, enjoy discovering the resort and perhaps visit some of the highlights from the guided tour on your first day here. The town of Zell am See has lots to offer including great restaurants, cafés and bars but it is also a beautiful place to take a scenic walk along the lake side. Alternatively, you can take it easy, sit back and relax in the wonderful surroundings of your hotel.

Day5Grossglockner

We will depart from Zell am See this morning for a drive along the scenic lake Zell and on to the gateway to what is considered one of Austria’s most scenic high alpine roads. Winding its 48km course through Austria’s central Alpine ridge, it links the two federal provinces of Salzburg and Carinthia.
Heiligenblut, with its charismatic gothic church, marks the southern portal and Ferleiten hosts the northern gateway to this masterpiece of engineering. The road climbs two passes, Fischer Toerl at 2,428m and Hochtor (tunnel) at 2,504m above sea, until it finally branches off into the Glacier Road leading all the way up to Austria’s largest valley glacier, The Pasterze. This road marks Austria’s highest paved alpine road and is only open for scenic traffic during the summer months.
Austria’s highest alpine peak, Grossglockner, lends its name to this road, yet it unveils its full majestic appearance only on the last few kilometres of the glacier road.
After a stop in the picturesque Heiligenblut in Carinithia, we backtrack the same route and you get to experience this road from a different perspective.

Day6Krimml Waterfalls

Today, you are in for a real treat on our half day excursion to the Krimml waterfalls. You will be picked up by coach after breakfast and begin the journey to Europe’s highest waterfall, boasting an impressive 380 metre spectacular drop. Enjoy the breathtaking surrounds of the Hohe Tauern National Park, the largest natural park in Central Europe, from the foot of the falls or perhaps enjoy a walk to the waterfalls edge and take a closer look, entrance fees to the falls are included. Coach transfer back to village in time to enjoy rest of the day.

Day7At Your Leisure

In the summer, the Zell am See area region offers great variety for those who want an active holiday. Between glacier, mountain and lake, there are plenty of summer activities to inspire you. The peaks and vantage points can be conquered on foot or by mountain bike and with a bit of tailwind thanks to the e-bike, even longer tours are on the cards. Clearly marked hiking trails stretch like a fine net across the region and lead you to quaint huts and places for a rest with panoramic views.
For those who fancy a slightly slower pace, why not take a boat trip on the lake to see Zell from an entirely different and utterly beautiful vantage point?

Day8Return home

Your coach will transfer you back to the airport, where you will board your plane for your flight back to Dublin.
